You Don't Have a Clue About Clueless
Say hello to the Confident, Cool, and Creative Kristina Zias!
So tell us a little about yourself.. how'd you get into fashion..etc...
I got into fashion at a very young age because of my mom. My sister and I were for sure the best dressed kids in the neighborhood. My mom would make a lot of our clothes and always made sure we knew how important it was to look nice and presentable. I don't think I have ever really seen my parents in sweats. I really got into fashion when I started working at Nordstrom during my freshman year of college. My love of clothing went beyond dressing nicely but as a salesperson there I was able to help others transform their style and it was so much fun.
Meet Alicia Vela-Bailey
Strong, beautiful, and adventurous are just a few of the words that describe professional stunt woman Alicia Vela-Bailey. And while you may not know her, you most certainly know the movies she has worked on behind the scenes to make them look badass: the Underworld series, Avatar and most recently Divergent, just to name a few! Since getting into fitness, I've been fascinated with the power and control that the body can have, so I was super excited to chat with this lady! Check out our chat here!
Welcome to Fittsburgh! How Joe and Anthony Vennare are Shaping up Pittsburgh to be a Better and Healthier City.
Being healthy in Pittsburgh has never been so easy, thanks to Anthony and Joe Vennare (yup, you guessed it they're bros). But not those kind of bro's, like the related kind). They launched Fittsburgh, a site about healthy eating and living here in Pittsburgh just this past May, and it is already taking off! Pittsburghers are clearly in dire need of change and variety for ways to move and eat well here in the 'Steel City.' The Vennare brothers make this possible by providing a resource to find locally grown food and all unique (and most importantly FUN) ways to workout! Pittsburgh is an amazing smorgasbord for all sorts of amazing food and fitness styles that thanks to Joe and Anthony we are no longer blind to! I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Anthony, one half of this dynamic duo, about fitness, food and doing what you love.
MKTO are Definitely Classic!
It seems that with each passing year we get less and less music with meaning, music that has soul, music with a message. THANK GOODNESS these guys came along! MKTO consist of Tony Oller and Malcolm Kelley. Two former Nickelodeon stars that decided to break out, grow up and put music out there to inspire and make people feel good.
In their self titled debut album they touch on issues of being bullied to showing some respect to women. Much like their single 'Classic' that's blowing up right are these guys style. They may be younger but they have a cool old school vibe that I really dig. Not since Macklemore's 'Same Love' have I heard and really felt such passion emanating through my speakers. I think I really like these guys so much because there here to uplift and inspire people to dream and dream BIG. This is something that has drastically gone away in a day and age of fast pace living and even faster money. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out, you won't be sorry! Check out my favorite's 'Classic' and 'American Dream' after the jump!
Short Hair, Don't Care!
So, I was going to get my hair cut, no big deal, or so I thought. I headed over to the hair salon but something felt different from the second I walked in the door. I sat down in the chair and started to chat with my stylist, Kim.
"So, any big plans coming up?" Kim asked casually.
You'd best believe it, Kim! I'm going to go get some tacos after this and watch a marathon of Gossip Girl, I thought to myself. Subconsciously, however, maybe I really did have some major changes in store.
"Not really," I responded.
"So, what are we doing with your hair today?"
I had planned on just getting a trim but out of nowhere I responded, "Something different." I said with a hint of excitement in my voice.
"Have you had your hair short?"
"No, not even shoulder length."
"Well, how short are you willing to go?" asked Kim.
Instantly I thought of my past pulpy television history and asked, "Did you ever watch Felicity?"
"No, heard of it though," she told me airily.
Come on Kim, really?! Honestly, who lived through the 90s and hasn't seen the 'angsty' drama-packed show with the girl torn between two guys, who ultimately learns more about who she really by the end of the whole? If you read that sentence, though, I guess you don't need to.
"Oh, great show from the 90's" I casually reply, hiding my shock and disappointment as best I could of my hair dresser's lack of pop culture knowledge. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through some pictures of Keri Russell's infamous haircut for Felicity showing Kim the look.

A Letter to My Mom on Mother's Day
| Sitting outside at the spot where my Mom and I chatted on the phone every week |
I want to thank you so much for still being a guiding force in my life. You may not be here physically but I know you're still pushing me to be a kinder, smarter and better young woman. I bet you threw a fit when I cut my hair, and you were probably cracking up when I got covered in color on my 5k this past Fall and I just KNOW you had the biggest smile on your face when I finally made it to the Macy's Thanksgiving day Parade last year (btw, thanks so much for watching with me religiously every year).
