It may be Oscar season but that doesn't mean there isn't any room left for a fun popcorn film at the theaters! And that's just what you get when you go to check out Jack Reacher. The film, based on the mystery/thriller book series by Lee Child stars Tom Cruise in one of his best roles since Jerry McGuire with the action of Mission Impossible. 

The film, set in Pittsburgh starts out with gorgeous, sweeping shots of the city that are the best and most interesting shots of a city seen in a while.  They do an amazing job of drawing you in and then keeps your attention with what happens next.  A sniper takes down five people on the waterfront; however, this mass shooting is really to cover up the death of only one person, the snipers actual target.

Now while there's been some controversy over Cruise looking nothing like the 6 foot tall blonde protagonist of the book there is something to be said about the charisma that he brings to the role. He really makes the role his own and captivates you every scene he's in; although Jai Courtney, who plays the rival sniper to Cruise's Reacher character does a pretty great job keeping up Cruise.  Courtney is the most most charming and bad ass bad guy seen on screen in a while and expect to see more of him alongside Bruce Willis in A Good Day to Die Hard.

Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) per usual delivers gritty action scenes that make you wince and snappy dialogue that makes you chuckle. So if you need a break from the heavy issues of this years plethora of fantastic but dramatic films catch Jack Reacher while it's still in theaters!

The Twilight stud turned action star stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new film Abduction which also star Sigourney Weaver and Lilly Collins and to also ride a mechanical Bull.  In the film Lautner goes on the run after  discovering his life isn't quite what he thought it was.  Directed by John Singleton (Boyz in the Hood) the action flick looks like a lot fun despite it's lackluster reviews! This is one of the first trailers I've seen in a while to actually leave me speechless! This looks so good! Gosling plays  'A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.' I am SUPER excited for this and can't wait for it to come out. Gosling looks like he plays his part phenomenally. Starring opposite is Carey Mulligan who plays a quiet housewife whose husband is just getting out of jail. Drive comes out this Fall. Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, and Chrisitna Hendricks round out this amazing cast.  Really looking forward to this one, it look pretty damn exciting! The two took a ride on one of the historic Boston Swan Boats to film a romantic scene for their upcoming movie Ted.  Wahlberg and Kunis had to remain cuddly wile braving chilly temperatures for their scene.  Ted is set to be released in July 2012!  Check out more photos after the jump!

Alright, so I'll be the first to admit I was leery about the upcoming installment of the Transformers' franchise.  Now while the first one was AWESOME the second one sadly left me disappointed. However, Tranformers: Dark of Moon looks pretty freaken' good!  There is just a different feel to this film.  It seems darker, better, and it looks as though there is going to be more of an attempt to get back to the heart of the story which is the relationship between Sam and the Autobots.  I'm really excited for this Transformer's film and hope it turns out as well as I think.  Dark of Moon comes our way July 1, 2011. What do you guys think, Summer Blockbuster or just a Bust??

With the recent release of his film The Green Hornet, Seth Rogen sat down with the G4 Network to talk about his new film and as usual, he was good for more than a few laughs.  Rogen talked about what went into tackling the chore of turning the comic into a film, working with Cameron Diaz and why he didn't go shirtless for the flick. Green Hornet has been getting some pretty decent reviews and seems like a lot of fun. Check out the interview here!

It's undeniable that SNL really just hasn't been the same since the absence of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Jimmy Fallon but every once in a while they strike comedic gold and this, is one of those moments. Recently, the show took some shots at the new action flick from Tony Scott, Unstoppable which stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson and took in a solid 22 Million at the box office over the past weekend.  The parody is stunningly accurate with it's representation of their caricature like depictions of Denzel and Chris.  The best parts of the video are by far the spot protrayel of Denzel's laugh and the overexxagerations of Rosario's characters line about the Christler Building.

Thanks to the Pittsburgh Film Office I was fortunate enough to get an invite to the Unstoppable premier right here in Pittsburgh, Pa where nearly the entire thing was filmed!  And let me tell you this definitely one wild ride!  I went into the film with actually minimal expectations, this isn't topically the kind of film I'd be into.  The film starts off slow with smart ass young Will Coleson (Chris Pine) exchanging snarky dialog with equally snippy Frank (Denzel Washington) who is being forced out by the train company.  On a seemingly typical first day on the job will finds himself in quite the situation when two goofs make the HUGE mistake of letting a train loose holding tons of explosive chemicals.  When all options are exhausted it's up to Will and Frank to stop stop this runaway train.

Now granted there isn't much to the plot:
A )Runaway train, B) No way to stop it, C) Two guys that have a plan to stop it.
However, the ways the scenes are cut between Will and Frank's banter about their troubled lives and the train reeking havoc on a small town in Southern, PA is fantastic and adds mass amounts of tension.  And all the cheesy lines that Rosario spouts out in the trailer like "a missile the size of the Christler building actually come off quite compelling in the actual film.

In the end, I was surprised at how on the edge of my seat I was during the majority of the movie.  I was also surprised how much I cared about what happened to these characters with only having a short glimpse into their lives.  Tony Scott's signature film style shines though and adds a great look to this extraordinary event.  All in all, Unstoppable is simplistic and that's what is great about it.  So I give it a B-.  If you guys check it out this weekend when it opens leave some comments saying what you thought!
