A Letter to My Mom on Mother's Day

Sitting outside at the spot where my Mom and I chatted on the phone every week
Dear Mom,

I want to thank you so much for still being a guiding force in my life.  You may not be here physically but I know you're still pushing me to be a kinder, smarter and better young woman.  I bet you threw a fit when I cut my hair, and you were probably cracking up when I got covered in color on my 5k this past Fall and I just KNOW you had the biggest smile on your face when I finally made it to the Macy's Thanksgiving day Parade last year (btw, thanks so much for watching with me religiously every year).

I know you know this already but there's just a few things I wanted to thank you for:
Thank you so much for your unconditional love. Thank you for coming to all of those soccer games in 90 degree heat just to watch me run down the field in the wrong direction. Thank you for working such long hours so that I could have opportunities that you did not. Thank you for making me feel like the most special person on this planet and that I could do ANYTHING! And thank you so much for molding me into the person I am today. I am eternally gratefully for your love, patience and advice.

While there have definitely been some changes for me this year, one thing has remained the same, and that's my love for you. Your endless encouragement that I have stored away still fuels me to accomplish everything that you knew I could. I have no doubt you've been watching over me this past year; Probably more closely than any other. And although I 'miss you bunches' as you would say, I just want you to know, I may not be perfect but I'm doing alright.

Love,

Rachel
