Is Gaga as Creative as We Give her Credit for??

Needless to say, everyone (myself included) was pretty blown away with Lady Gaga's 'gender bending' performance at this years' VMA's. However, it has recently been brought to our attention that her alter ego Joe Calderone isn't exactly as shocking and groundbreaking as we may have first been lead to believe.  Back in 1984 the well known Pop singer Annie Lenox performed as a male alter ego long before Calderone's eccentric appearance at the 2011 VMA's. Now, I'm not trying to take anything away from Gaga or her talent it just seems as though she 'borrows' a lot of things and attempts to pass them off as her own. At least when 'Puff Daddy' did it back in the 90's he embraced his sampling/song stealing! What do you guys think??

'I'm Ashton Kutcher and I'm AWESOME!'

Kutcher recently stopped by Letterman to chat about his new role on CBS' Two and a Half Men.  This was honestly one of the funniest interviews I've ever seen!  Ashton was SUPER charming and funny as he filled us in (as much as he could) about his return to television. The interview definitely has me interested in checking out the show when in returns next month!

Throwback Video of the Week!

Wow, so it's been WAY too long since I've posted an installment of Throwback Video of the Week!  So to make up for it I'm coming back with with a bang or rather a Boy Band ! But not quite the typically boy band you might be thinking of.  This 'throwback' features the Mtv parody Boy Band that later, due to popularity became a real Boy Band, 2gether. Their single from the movie 2gether Calculus (U=Me=Us) became an instant hit and is hilarious! Boy do I miss the old days of Mtv, this concept was genius and spot on with their impersonation of a popular 90's Boy Band! Simply put, old school Mtv + a fake Boy Band= a damn good time! Enjoy!

From 'Gleeky to Creepy' the Trailer for Ryan Murphy's 'American Horror Story'

With the his HUGELY successful hit show Glee it's easy for many to forget that the shows' creator Ryan Murphy hasn't always been all about campy and quirky.  In fact Murphy's two big shows before Glee, Popular and Nip/Tuck were dark, edgy and filled with outrageous storylines! So I am for one am not surpirsed at the teaser trailer for he and co-creator Brad Falchuck's new FX series American Horror Story.  From the casting,  Dylan McDermott (The Practice), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), and Jessica Lange to the creepy visuals and eerie music with it's haunting melodies come together perfectly in this trailer. Let's just hope the show is equally as good! The show premieres October 5th.

Daniel Radcliffe Looking All British and What Not in 'The Woman in Black' trailer!

Even though Harry Potter is over Radcliffe continues the dark and creepy movie journey with The Woman in Black.  The film revolves around Radcliffe's character heading to small town for holiday and being haunted by one of the towns less than kind residents. The film definitely looks pretty scary and it look like Radcliffe is going to deliver a pretty sweet performance! What do you guys think of his first film after Potter??

Hard Rockers with Soft Hearts, My Interview with Nashville Band The Co.

Collin Brace, Troy Akers and Nate Fleming form the intriguing trio known as The Co.  What I love about these these guys is that while anyone can rock out, they do so with a passion and purpose and you can hear it with every note.  The Co. is a band that knows how wear their hearts on their sleeves and captivate their audience.  I recently stumbled across the bands' music on YouTube and was instantly hooked! I had the opportunity to interview the band and learn more about them and their unique sound thanks to members Collin and Nate.  Check out our interview!

Reality by Rach: How did the Co. first come together??

Nate: The band originally started with Collin (singer) and Troy (piano) in 2005 during their freshman year of college. It wasn’t until 2007 when I (drums) met the guys in a creative writing class that I (drums) joined the band. At that time we were more of a straight ahead rock back called Kennedy. After some personnel changes and some redirection we became The CO in 2009.

RBR: Now you guys are from Nashville, what is in the water there that allows their artist to make such good music?! Are there specific things about Nashville that contribute the bands music making?

Nate: Yea, we call it Cumberland punch! Seriously though, Nashville has an incredible music community. There is so much talent and inspiration in this town! Everyone is basically going for the same goal and for the most part they are eager and willing to help each other get there. If you ever need someone to play on a record, write a song with, or just hang and talk about music; they are right around the corner. It’s also great to see established artists and producers helping out bands like us that are trying to get off the ground. There is a fantastic support system here that encourages creativity and rewards great music making.

Adam Levine Covers 'Out' Magazine

The sexy front man of Maroon 5 and one of the judges on NBC breakout singing competition show 'The Voice' talks about sexuality in the upcoming issue of Out magazine.  Levine also shares about his brother who is gay and how families with a gay member need to ban together and support one another.

On growing up with a gay brother:
“I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired. Trust me, you’re born with it. My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all really wanted to provide some cushion for him and constantly let him know that it’s OK.”

On families who try to change gay kids:
“A lot of people don’t want their kid to be gay and will fight it all costs, but I’ve got news for you - it’s a losing f—ing battle. You’ve got to embrace it from the beginning. That’s the only way to deal with it as a family. Otherwise you’re just screwing yourself over, and you’re going to make your kid miserable.”

Christmas Comes Early 'Harold and Kumar Christmas' Trailer!

Well at least there is one thing to be grateful for in these times of a less lackluster economic situation, everything for the upcoming Holiday Seasons is pushed our way WAY ahead of time. It all starts with 'back to school' shopping commercials in July then Halloween commercials in August and now Holiday movie trailers are the newest addition! It used be sitting in front of the tv eating some delicious pumpkin pie  in November that new would unfold about the Christmas movies coming out that year; Nowadays, it's only the second week of August and already trailers for Sherlock Holmes 2 and The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo both set to be debut on Christmas day have been released. The most recent addition to this list is Harold and Kumar Christmas which, I admit the first few seconds don't look promising but as the trailer goes on all the things you love about the duo and they're commentary on popular culture begin to unfold which makes it seem as though the film will be pretty damn funny! What do you guys think??

On playing a villain in both Harry Potterand Rise of the Planet of the Apes:

Open Till Midnight's Matthew Ballinger Talks Performing Live, Their New EP and Red Hot Chilli Peppers in Exclusive Interview with RBR!

Matt on the far left with the rest of his OTM Band Mates

There's something to be said about music that just feels real and authentic and has the power to strike a chord inside of someone. Music like this is hard to come by.  This sentiment is certainly a way of describing the feeling you get when you listen to rising New York based band Open Till Midnight.  I've been listening to their work for a while now and with the release of their EP Stay On Me you can really hear the bands growth and depth and it's really exciting! I recently had the chance to chat with the lead singer of OTM Matthew Ballinger about the EP and OTM's exciting plans for the future! Check out our fun interview here!

Reality by Rach: SO let’s first start off by talking about how you guys came together.

Matt: Open Till Midnight has actually been a band for a while. Mike Cook (Rhythym Guitar) and Keith Gooberman (Bass) and Ross Deutsch started the band in High School. They continued it throughout college and after college they were looking for a new singer in NYC. A good friend of mine from college recommended that I should meet up with these guys and we really just clicked right away. Our drummer Zach is a veteran NYC drummer, that we had heard about it. So that completes our current lineup.

RBR: What are some of your musical influences?

Matt: They include Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Stamos and Jonas Rehearse for 'Hairspray'

The Jo Bro and the Full House star who always and fondly be known as 'Uncle Jesse' recently rehearsed for their upcoming performance of the hit musical of Hairspray.
